A forum for identifying and avoiding wholly or partially non-authentic wristwatches --
including counterfeit, replica, Frankenwatches and other fake or bastardized pieces.
Our objective here is to DISCOURAGE the sales and purchase of counterfeit
wristwatch and jewelry products. It is also for helping people identify
watches that are mostly authentic, but have been: altered for personal customization,
repaired with inappropriate parts or modified to be passed off as more valuable pieces.
Including a photo of the piece you are talking about ALWAYS helps! You can learn how to post a photo here: How To Include Photos In Your Postings. 'For sale' postings, commercial solicitation and ads are not allowed. Links to Internet auctions are acceptable only if their purpose is to question the authenticity of a product or provide new clues for identifying counterfeit products. Links that appear to be 'shills' promoting the sale of counterfeit products will be deleted. Links to websites of sellers of counterfeit items are not permitted -- we know they are out there and do not need to be encouraging them by sending traffic to their sites. I purchased a Raymond Weil Tango watch from Orolus.com a couple of weeks ago(Orolus is based out of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). The watch is brand new, and looks and feels genuine, it came in the original box and has an authorized dealer stamp (the dealer stamp was from Watchshoppe of Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia, not Orlolus. According to the Raymond Weil website, Watchshoppe is an authorized dealer) in the booklet. However, I am wondering if it is counterfeit because the line, "Tango", is in print type font on the face of the watch as opposed to cursive type font. When I go to the Raymond Weil site and into stores, all of the current models use cursive font for all lines (Tango, Parsifal, Othello, etc.) but when I look online at various websites (even those based in the US) I do see several models with print font but a majority have cursive. Does anyone know why this is? The only thing I can think of is that I have an older model and they used to use print type font, or, I received a counterfeit. I have emailed Raymond Weil but they did not reply to my inquiry. Thank you, Kris Seattle, WA
