Counterfeit Watchers Discussion Forum

A forum for identifying and avoiding wholly or partially non-authentic wristwatches -- including counterfeit, replica, Frankenwatches and other fake or bastardized pieces. Our objective here is to DISCOURAGE the sales and purchase of counterfeit wristwatch and jewelry products. It is also for helping people identify watches that are mostly authentic, but have been: altered for personal customization, repaired with inappropriate parts or modified to be passed off as more valuable pieces.

Including a photo of the piece you are talking about ALWAYS helps! You can learn how to post a photo here: How To Include Photos In Your Postings. 'For sale' postings, commercial solicitation and ads are not allowed. Links to Internet auctions are acceptable only if their purpose is to question the authenticity of a product or provide new clues for identifying counterfeit products. Links that appear to be 'shills' promoting the sale of counterfeit products will be deleted. Links to websites of sellers of counterfeit items are not permitted -- we know they are out there and do not need to be encouraging them by sending traffic to their sites. Privacy, additional policies and administrivia are covered in the Terms of Use.

Common man,

Ronda manufactures middle range quality movements. Most quartz movements however, are of sufficient quality, including the Ronda 705 Quartz movement. Also, please note that most movements of middle range quality only cost between US$ 10 and US$ 40. The quality of the movement shouldn't be your main reason for buying your watch. If you like the brand and the design, then go ahead and buy it. Rotary is a reknowned brand in GB. They have a history in watch making, however they are not as popular as other Swiss brands. Their re-sale value is not high as a result.

: Hello there,

: I'm not sure if my topic fits in the
: Counterfeit watch category, but I was hoping
: that you watch enthusiasts could help me
: anyhow. I have developed a passion for
: watches in the recent years. Unfortunately,
: my budget is fairly limited, therefore, I
: can not afford the watches I really would
: like to have (IWC Portugieser, Mido
: Commander, M8885.4.1.8 etc., etc.) Recently,
: I have discovered a watch from the
: Swiss/British watchmaker company
: "Rotary" which had a very
: appealing effect on me. The watch I'm
: interested in has a Ronda Quartz movment
: caliber 705. Can anyone tell me something
: about the quality of this maker and
: movement?

: Thank you,

: Common man
