Counterfeit Watchers Discussion Forum

A forum for identifying and avoiding wholly or partially non-authentic wristwatches -- including counterfeit, replica, Frankenwatches and other fake or bastardized pieces. Our objective here is to DISCOURAGE the sales and purchase of counterfeit wristwatch and jewelry products. It is also for helping people identify watches that are mostly authentic, but have been: altered for personal customization, repaired with inappropriate parts or modified to be passed off as more valuable pieces.

Including a photo of the piece you are talking about ALWAYS helps! You can learn how to post a photo here: How To Include Photos In Your Postings. 'For sale' postings, commercial solicitation and ads are not allowed. Links to Internet auctions are acceptable only if their purpose is to question the authenticity of a product or provide new clues for identifying counterfeit products. Links that appear to be 'shills' promoting the sale of counterfeit products will be deleted. Links to websites of sellers of counterfeit items are not permitted -- we know they are out there and do not need to be encouraging them by sending traffic to their sites. Privacy, additional policies and administrivia are covered in the Terms of Use.

Re: Authenticity of Omega Constellation Mens Watch

: Ling,

: Now is the time to spend $10 to have a
: watchmaker take off the back and tell you if
: it is genuine. An Omega dealer might do it
: for free!

: Although I've not done business with Jomawatch,
: they have been going for sometime without,
: as far as I am aware, any adverse comment.

: As far as the documentation is concerned, if
: the watch were advertised as say, "new
: and complete", the paperwork should be
: with it - contact Jomawatch and ask.

: If it were new but, say, a display model, then
: the paperwork depends on the advert

: If it were secondhand and was not advertised
: with "all paperwork", you have
: paid for what you have received and have no
: reason for complaint.

: Paperwork is not vital to the resale price of a
: watch but is a helpful selling point.
: Anyhoo, if you are going to keep it for 20
: or so years, the paperwork will make little
: difference.

: BTW, did your brother pay more or less than
: you?

Hi, Gary,

Thank you very much for the suggestions. My brother paid about $2450 for his watch from Overstock.Com. I would rather to pay the same price to buy mine from the Overstock if they had one.

Jomashop advertised the watch as "new and complete", not pre-owned, which they specifically emphasized during my phone conversation with them. As you said, the paperwork should be with it if it is new and complete, which is my thought, too. The lack of the original paperwork makes me not only concern about the authenticity, but also suspect this watch may not be new but be a pre-owned. I checked several websites about the customer reviews about shopping in Jomashop. Indeed, there were several complain about the company to send out pre-owned or defect watch to customs. I only wish that I read those comments before I bought my watch.

I cannot have a watchmaker take off the back to check the authenticity. Jomashop particularly states that the action, such as taking off the back, is one of exclusion conditions for a customer to return the watch. So, I cannot have this watch been checked. Otherwise, I cannot return it back if I decide to.

I am planing to call Jomashop to ask those paper works tomorrow as you suggested. If their responses are not satisfactory, I will return the watch and buy from other more reliable vendors. Jomashop does have 30-day money back guarantee. Unfortunately, there were lots of hassles involved to return items and to get refund according to on-line customer reviews.

Thanks again for the suggestions. I am an inexperience on-line shopper. Any advice will be welcomed.

Ling
