Counterfeit Watchers Discussion Forum

A forum for identifying and avoiding wholly or partially non-authentic wristwatches -- including counterfeit, replica, Frankenwatches and other fake or bastardized pieces. Our objective here is to DISCOURAGE the sales and purchase of counterfeit wristwatch and jewelry products. It is also for helping people identify watches that are mostly authentic, but have been: altered for personal customization, repaired with inappropriate parts or modified to be passed off as more valuable pieces.

Including a photo of the piece you are talking about ALWAYS helps! You can learn how to post a photo here: How To Include Photos In Your Postings. 'For sale' postings, commercial solicitation and ads are not allowed. Links to Internet auctions are acceptable only if their purpose is to question the authenticity of a product or provide new clues for identifying counterfeit products. Links that appear to be 'shills' promoting the sale of counterfeit products will be deleted. Links to websites of sellers of counterfeit items are not permitted -- we know they are out there and do not need to be encouraging them by sending traffic to their sites. Privacy, additional policies and administrivia are covered in the Terms of Use.

Re: buying tag f1 in a reputable mall

: Obviously, you do not buy the watch from the
: mall itself--but from a dealer *in* the
: mall. A dealer being in or outside a mall
: has nothing to do with their legitimacy as a
: dealer of any particular brand.

: So what you need to focus on is the dealer
: status of that specific dealer you were
: looking at. Are they an authorized TAG
: dealer? If so, then it should be fine.
: Though I suspect that if they were offering
: 30% off retail, they probably are not
: authorized by TAG.

: It is not unusual to find reputable watch
: dealers that are not authorized for all the
: brands they sell.

: Read the article on Gray Market watches in the
: Consumer Zone here on Chronocentric. It
: explains more.

so what if all the requirements (serial nos, 2 years warranty, etc) of a watch that can be bought in an authorized dealer is also in that watch but is displayed or being selled in a reputable unauthorized dealer, do you think it is safe or genuine even if there is 30% discount? also, lets say the unauthorized reputable dealer met the same requirements as the authorized dealer, as in same, why is it that it still has a lower price? if i were to look at it, the only diff is its warranty since if you bought it in an authorized dealer, that warranty is recognized worldwide otherwise not.
