Counterfeit Watchers Discussion Forum

A forum for identifying and avoiding wholly or partially non-authentic wristwatches -- including counterfeit, replica, Frankenwatches and other fake or bastardized pieces. Our objective here is to DISCOURAGE the sales and purchase of counterfeit wristwatch and jewelry products. It is also for helping people identify watches that are mostly authentic, but have been: altered for personal customization, repaired with inappropriate parts or modified to be passed off as more valuable pieces.

Including a photo of the piece you are talking about ALWAYS helps! You can learn how to post a photo here: How To Include Photos In Your Postings. 'For sale' postings, commercial solicitation and ads are not allowed. Links to Internet auctions are acceptable only if their purpose is to question the authenticity of a product or provide new clues for identifying counterfeit products. Links that appear to be 'shills' promoting the sale of counterfeit products will be deleted. Links to websites of sellers of counterfeit items are not permitted -- we know they are out there and do not need to be encouraging them by sending traffic to their sites. Privacy, additional policies and administrivia are covered in the Terms of Use.

Scam happening all over the internet

Hey everybody! I am new here and an almost Panerai owner, no thanks to a scam that I was a victim of.

I was looking to buy my first Panerai (pam 112), and reached out to the forums on Paneristi. I found a seller by the handle of JackPat, who sounded very sincere about selling his watch. I wire transferred the funds. It all went south from there.

He gave me a story about how he was in the hospital and that he would send it out in a few days. It sounded fishy, but I went with it. I then contacted him again, and he responded by asking me for more money. I instantly knew I was scammed. This put me out $3250 USD ($4200 CAD) For me, this is worth one and a half months salary. A very costly mistake.

I am just spreading the word so you can be on the lookout for this person, as I don't want this to happen to anybody else in the community.

He goes by the the handle of JackPat (jackpatwatch@outlook.com) and is selling a Panerai pam 112, as well as a Rolex 16710A GMT Master II Coke. Not sure if he was removed from the site, but I wanted to make it known to the community and moderators. I would hate for this to happen to someone else especially at this time of year.
