Considering what they did with the Monza, I think this is relatively tasteful to be honest. I do wish they would use the Cal. 36 more extensively. There is no good reason why they can't offer a Carrera with a Cal. 36 or with a manual wind version of the Cal. 36 in a package similar to the spirit of the original 1964 Carrera. It looks to me that Maria has no problem wearing a Steve McQueen Monaco (well, she needs the help of a cuff, but)... It seems the ladies have no problems wearing full sized mens watches these days...
