The watches offered by Phillips always seem to be in top condition; the photography is always excellent; and -- most important -- they seem to have bidders / customers willing to pay top dollar, and sometimes beyond that.
We should also give them credit for avoiding the "filler" / eBay level watches that we see in so many other auctions. For example, what excuse is there for Antiquorum offering the Autavia shown below, at their sale yesterday? It realizes the 2,500 CHF price and people are left to wonder what these watches are really worth. An excellent sample of this model probably fetches $10,000 (or more) at Phillips. So we see the Phillips brand elevated and the Antiquorum brand going lower and lower. One brand offers only the watches in the best condition, while the other one seeks to fill a catalog, with any sort of garbage.
