Yesterday I had the chance to watch the new movie "Le Mans 66" (Ford v Ferrari) starring Matt Damon and Christopher Bale. With much pleasure I have noted that the main characters wore vintage Heuer chronographs. Mr Bale wears an Autavia 2446, and I was especially happy to see a beautiful Carrera 30, ref. 7753 SN, on the wrist of Matt Damon.

TAG Heuer was able to place these wristwatches, along with stopwatches and dashboard timers, in the movie. In my opinion, a very clever move and the perfect surrounding for the watches.

I guess that everyone who has ever listened to Jack Heuer, talking about how he contacted the prop master of the film company and managed to place the Monacos in McQueen's "Le Mans" movie, will now be reminded of this nice story!

The movie itself is concentrating more on the characters than on the racing, and in so far it is a typical Hollywood production. Well, it even might be glorifying the main characters more than they actually deserve, especially Mr Shelby. Some of the racing scenes are a bit bizarre, too – especially if you ever sat in a race car yourself and tried to make eye contact with the guy you are just passing at 220 mph. And of course you can spot some historical inaccuracies. But hey, it's a movie, not a documentary.

On the other hand, my wife said she liked it – which surely would not have been he case if it had been more realistic :-)
