It's a great day to celebrate the TAG Heuer Carrera issued in 2012, to mark the 50th Anniversary of Heuer being the first Swiss watch in space.
This Carrera, offered by TAG Heuer in 2012, never got much attention, but perhaps today is a good day to celebrate the watch and the SpaceX venture. Yes, Heuer was the first Swiss watch in space, in February 1962, when John Glenn strapped a Heuer stopwatch to his wrist for his flight. The stopwatch was a Reference 2915, with 12 hour capacity.
50 years later, TAG Heuer offered this limited edition Carrera, to mark the anniversary and to celebrate the SPaceX venture. The Carrera is powered by the Calbre 1887 movement, and the style of the dial is similar to that of the original John Glenn stopwatch.
Here's a good posting on Calibre 11, describing the SpaceX Carrera -- https://www.calibre11.com/tag-heuer-carrera-spacex-1887/
And here's the original OnTheDash posting covering John Glenn and his Heuer stopwatch -- John Glenn's Heuer Stopwatch
