I haven't studied the details yet, but lots of discussion about the new eBay guarantee of authenticity on watches sold for over $2,000.

It's difficult to imagine how this program will work. eBay has been allowing the sale of blatant fakes for 25 years, and has been terrible about removing even the few that are reported. With the increase in eBay fees, the states requiring the collection of sales tax here in the United States, and the proliferation of fake watches, it seems like eBay is fighting a losing battle, to regain share of the vintage watch market. I can't remember the last time I listed a watch for sale on eBay [probably 10 years ago] and the purchases have been increasingly uncommon.
Too little, too late for eBay?
