Added to OnTheDash -- Heuer Reference 416 chronograph, in 18 karat gold.
This is the first sample of this model that I have seen. It's part of the "404" series, with 34 millimeter case; small pushers but strong lugs; powered by the Valjoux 23 movement. The Reference 404 chronographs were made throughout the 1950s, but this watch is circa 1964. It's from before Heuer's acquisition of Leonidas, so both case and movement are marked "Ed. Heuer". The Reference 416 is not in any of the catalogs, most likely because Heuer was all about stainless steel chronographs and so few of the 18 KG guys were made. Notice that the radium on the dial and hands has remained perfectly clean.
