Hello Peter, first congratulations to your dad for having such a good taste in watches!
The pictures you posted show very small to me - no matter if I try to display them on the laptop or on the table or the smartphone.
With this limitation, which piece of advice can be provided for your query?
If you plan to sell it, I'd think twice about getting it restored, by anyone. Maybe just a service to the movement in case you want to wear it in the meantime - but with a V72 under the hood, it's going to be pricey.
Otherwise, if it stays tucked away until it's sold, I'd leave it as is, because nowadays many frown upon restored pieces, they prefer originality above anything else. Also a buyer may have their own watchmaker to whom assign this piece for service and restoration. You will hardly recover restoration costs if you sell it soon after it's been done, let alone make any profit on it.
Either way, what should be restored, how and by whom is a choice better left to the one who'll have the watch in the long term.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Fabrizio
: Dear Friends
: I hope you can help me with som advise.
: I found this watch from my father and need advise in what to do
: with it. I have contacted HEUER in Switzerland and received a
: restoration proposal. But it is a lot of money. The main
: question is; should I sell the watch as it is och should I pay
: the money to get a professsional restoration and sell it after
: that and get my money back.
: The watch is:
: HEUER REF. 2447 ca 1942
: Movement calibre 72
: Serial no. 71505
: Silver dial, 3 silver counters, Arabic numerals, minute scale on
: the rim
: Fixed polished bezel
: Nothing is done with it for at least 30 years and it is well used
: but still running.
