Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some help and insights from the experts here regarding a Heuer Regatta that I recently acquired.
This watch has a fantastic, authentic provenance: it previously belonged to a professional sailing and regatta referee. It was truly used in its intended maritime element, which I think adds a unique layer of history to it.
The watch is currently a bit dirty from time, and the strap tag is in poor condition. Also, I don't have the original box or papers (it will be kept in a generic case for now). However, the automatic movement is running beautifully, and the seconds hand sweeps very smoothly.
Since the Heuer Regatta is such a specific and iconic yachting timer, I would love to understand more about this particular reference.
Could anyone shed some light on:
1. The history and specific details of this model's production?
2. How collectors view the condition versus the authentic referee provenance?
3. What would be a fair, realistic market value for a piece in this current state?
I want to make sure I fully understand what I have in my hands before making any decisions. Any information on its history or valuation would be highly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Paulo
