Is the original dial that bad?

Most Monaco dials have suffered from the disintegration of the rubber seal that sits between the plexi and the dial. As the seal gets old it turns to a slightly liquid gloop (this effect is often seen on other Heuer case backs when you open them ) This gloop seems to act as a good paint remover taking away the edge of the dial. To a certain extent you can cover this by cutting a new larger seal.
