Well stated and I can not agree more. So many Breitlings and other slide rule watches have such a multitude of scales that they are overwhelming. The Excello-o-Graph has only the two log scales and so is as you state, clean and legible.
A similar situation existed in my past when I used a linear slide rule in high school and college. The student slide rules I used are the pair at the top of the picture. For comparison I have included the engineering slide rule at the bottom. These were so complex that the engineering students had to take a course to learn how to use them. Overwhelming?
