Mastering Time -- 1963 / 1964 / 1965
In Response To: Re: Maybe I'm confused ()

the book, "Mastering Time", points to 1963 for the "presentation" of the Carrera series (see timeline in back of book); 1964 for the introduction of the Carrera series; and 1965 for the introduction of the first wrist chronograph that used a winddow and disk to show the date (page 45).

so I'll stick with 1960's as the correct decade for any Heuer chronograph marked "Carrera".

: I do love it when a lawyer says 'Maybe I am
: confused'!!

: I dunno either!

: As I said I am only quoting the Lang. Book
: which is pretty accurate on evrything else??

: I don't know if you have both types of Carrera
: but they really are different in size and
: the Dato 45 is a real specialist watch
: mostly seen as a Race track sponsor give
: away. Maybe Heuer just stumbled on that
: market, maybe interest in the Sponsor
: versions created enough interest.

: The L.189 movement and date configeration is
: pretty weird and I have only seen it in
: Omega Seamasters from the 50's and that
: Dato.

: Mine was military but short timer chronos were
: often used by the military for gun timing of
: crews on ships and artlillery batteries.

: Anyway could result in an interesting string!

: Regards

: Alistair
