I have the same theory mentioned above, about using the number markings in the hour counter to tell the difference between Cal 11 and Cal 12.

Also, have you noticed that the tachy scale in Cal 11 Carreras goes from 50 to 200 units, and it goes from 60 to 500 in Cal 12? There are exceptions, but it seems to be the general rule.

On the other hand, I own Cal 11 and 12 Carreras and in both of them you can have the date advanced simply by cycling the hands from 12 to 9 and back.
