we have previously done the Rivals / Competitors scan day (March 2005), but today's discussion of the Autavias and Speedmasters made me think that we could visit this topic again.
so show us the Respected Rivals . . . watches that might have battled for sales / respect / leadership, but would have respected each others strengths and differences.
here we see an Autavia from around 1965 and a Speedmaster from 1969. looking only at their elements (hands, registers, bezels, etc.), they seeme to have little in common. they share the same essence, however -- manual wind, three register chronographs from the 1960's . . . perhaps the ultimate "tool" / purpose-built watches.
