Jeff, I like the analogy--old car/new car etc. I opt for the original in most cases (did I mention I live in a 1926 California Cottage?). In my opinion, not only does a vintage watch have more character and style (the reissues lack both the stamp of passing time but seemingly are never quite the perfect replica), but owning an original says, "I took the time to find you. No other would do." There is a distinct pride of ownership that takes place in a way that buying a pretty new thing at the mall just doesn't provide. If you are lucky enough to find "the one," as Jeff mentioned, it'll wink at you--even blush.
