Re: Daytona x2
In Response To: Re: Daytona x2 ()

Hi, Thanks you to everyone for input and expert opinions, proves what a valuable resource this forum is. Sorry for late response email playing up. Having only a recent interest in these 70s series of watches I am surprised these relatively inexpensive little known watches are being so carefully faked. I wrote to both sellers informed them of your veiws, one rightly withdrawn, the other german watch I inadvertently won (email problems again) I have now rejected the item had response from seller but I have no german so not sure what he says.
I am currently bidding on a silverstone, but after learning from the forum the serious amount of fakes and rubbish being offered on ebay, I'm inclined in future to only purchase from reputable private collector or dealer. Anyone got a Daytona for sale?

: both watches are all genuine Heuer, however
: they're not quite what the factory intended.

: first 2664198235: the case and bracelet are
: late model Autavia (case ref 11063) it looks
: as though the bezel has been removed and the
: case machined down or a ring added, to look
: as though the bezel was never fitted. the
: dial and hands are both from the smoke dial
: Daytona, movement is Cal 12 for both that
: Autavia and the Daytona so it could be from
: either.

: secondly 2665541517: the case, bezel and
: movement are all from a rare early blue dial
: Carrera. the dial is from a Daytona and the
: hour and minute hands are, perhaps, from an
: Elgin. the sub register hands are from a 40s
: or 50s chronograph.

: in both instances these watches are clearly not
: Daytonas, they are perhaps 20% Daytona????
: and as such are of little true value.

: one of the reasons for the giant table and
: pictures of the various models on "on
: the dash" is to give people enough
: information so avoid frankenwatches like
: these. please make use of jeff's resource.
