That's really really sweet.
Seeing that honest wear on the watch reminds me of a rather silly debate that's going on in the guitar world.
A few years back, Fender, in response to a request from Keith Richards, started issuing "relic" guitars that have "wear" applied at the factory.
It's the guitaristic equivalent of stone washed jeans, but for some reason it's a hot button issue. You either think they're cool (as I do) or the stupidest thing in the world.
One thing few disagreee about is the beauty of a well-earned patina, as on your watch. And it's doubly cool when every scratch was put on it by a blood relative.
