Hi Jeff ,
This watch was found at the G.Monnin factory along with 3 others with black dials , notice the French spelling of professionel and also marked Made in France at the bottom of the dial, made as prototypes for a 1000m dive watch . Although the dial is marked 200m the case is identical to a Caribbean 702 case ,even has the same splayed lugs and movement retention ring, but with different markings on the back which read SUPERWATERPROOF 100 ATM AUTOMATIC INCABLOC STAINLESS STEEL also has the ubiquitous diver logo and serial number 1698 - maybe Monnin made the Caribbean cases for O&W , Jenny et al ?. Movement is an FE 4611A auto and each watch also had two spare bezels which I can only think were produced as colour samples.
This information is only what I was told at the time I bought it and would love to hear any comments you might have , would it be possible to trace the watch through the serial number to confirm any of this ?
I was fortunate to recently pick up a NOS Caribbean bor with the shaped end pieces for it , let me know if you would like any more pics or info.
Thanks,
Ron
