An Old Rolex (and the Tulips and Roses)
In Response To: Re: I Say that It Sold Cheap ()

I Know a Guy Who Bought an Old Rolex Chrono . . . he paid under $220 for it, back in the late 1960's.

a few years after he had bought it, the value had climbed to around $800, and he thought, "This is crazy. This market will 'bust', just like the old tulip market". Some years later, he checked again, and the market had climbed to a whopping $2,000, and he thought, "Oh my god . . . almost 10 times what I paid for the thing. What the . . . ? ? ?" Speed ahead to 2007, with the old Rolex being worth over $25,000, and let's ask what it will be worth five years from now.

I know . . . I know . . . there are so many external factors -- the price of oil, prevailing interest rates, the real estate market, the Russian mafia, exchange rates, social trends, the Green Movement, etc. But for now, let's forget about the tulips, and stop and "smell the roses".

Enjoy your watches . . . enjoy your weekend!!
