I have tried to explain to people how this occurs. Now, with this photo, we will have a perfect visual teaching tool.
Now, a couple of questions: Do you know -- was this only a problem with the early / original seals, or does this problem continue throughout the life of a watch? Do more modern, replacement seals also melt or only the older ones? Is the melted material so soft that it can ooze or drip onto the blue paint? How does the dial actually get damaged? How firm or soft is this stuff?
Great photo!!
