: Ron: yes, we are getting a lot of Spam, on all
: these Forums. So the moderators probably
: spend (waste) 10 minutes per day trying to
: keep the Forum clean, then we wake up and
: it's covered with Spam, yet again. I see
: that there are attachments, but have never
: been tempted or curious to open any of them
: . . . too dangerous / ugly.
: the alternative is to go with system that
: requires registration in order to post
: messages. we have hoped to avoid that
: "barrier", but if this continues,
: we will need to reconsider that decision.
: Let me try to call you this morning regarding
: our other project!!
: Cheers,
: Jeff
Comparing notes... I've deleted at least 100 of these types of messages the past couple of days on all of the forums. I can't speak for Jeff, Steve or Keith [if they've deleted any]. The sheer volume was so bad, I didn't even have time to put the IP addresses in the banned posting list this weekend.
What Jeff says about "the sure way to cause it to cease" via forced registration for all participants is certainly one option. I hope it doesn't come to that though. I'm still willing to go through manually and delete the garbage.
