many of us here in the US are shell-shocked by the recent rate of exchange between the US Dollar and the Euro . . . now around $1.44 per Euro.
A bit of good news -- which I have just received from the folks at Guinand -- is that US buyers, purchasing new watches, are able to decuct the 19% VAT that is included in the list price of new watches. So the effective exchange rate drops from $1.44 to approx. $1.17. Still not like the good old days (when it was in the $0.90 range), but way better than $1.44.
So if we can't compete with the European buyers for the vintage watches, maybe we should start collecting the new ones!!
