I agree that the manual one "look right" (I've seen one in the metal) but I have no documentary evidence to prove it is right.
The automatic one looks more of a put together, I have to say, but who knows.
Alex raises an interesting point of why do we suddenly see a few of these, but it is not clear; maybe because we talk about them we notice examples when they crop up, whereas a few years ago we may have ignored them?
