I haven't been collecting Heuer as long as most even thought I received my first "Heuer 3 Register Carrera" in 1966 as a graduations gift (from Uncle George). I also received a new 1967 Corvette 427 as a gift (Mon and Dad). I considered one a time piece and the other a life style, specially for a young man entering Auburn University. Over the years I have become a true Heuer Collector with a little knowledge (which I am told can be a damgerous thing). Anyway to get to the point concerning the Targa Florio, if they are truly original and come from a collectors (who supposely purchased them new and stored them) then it shouldn't be a problem to produce documentation and bill of sales to prove this story. On the other hand if it is as I suspect then there will be no documentation, no bill of sales, and no "live and in person" testimony to verify the mythical existence of a true and genuine Heuer manufactured "Targa Florio". As with my Carrera it was worn and used every day receiving numerous scratches and wear and tear. Even if I had put it up as collectors watch (I didn't know there was such a thing in 1966) it would have age marks and fading as most all vintage watches do. The Targa Florio I have seen (pictures only) look new. Both the Silver Pearl Corvette and the Carrera are gone but not forgotten. It was a live style and a great watch that was noticed whenever I wasn't driving the Vette.
