Heuer Triple Calendar, with "Bumper" Movement

This one is a classic that typifies the Heuers of the 1950's -- triple calendar (showing day, date and month), with automatic (self-winding) movement. The winding mechanism is known as a "bumper", because the oscillating weight that winds the movement does not move all the way around its pinion (360 degrees), but rotates back and forth, as it strikes a "bumper" and returns in the other direction.

Shown below is a photo from the Omega Discussion Forum that shows an Omega "bumper" movement, also from the 1950's.
