I tend to agree with Abel: I believe it's more a point of the overall condition of the watch rather than its type or even rarity. It is true that watches that were produced or remain in limited numbers will always fetch a good demand, but I believe that many collectors will adopt a waiting attitude towards watches in excellent conditions, rather that spread the money around. The quality of the pictures will matter, of course, like for every other similar trade, but it's nor really a decisive element. One last thing: given the sharp movements in currencies that occurred in the past 6 months, local factors (i.e.: prices in the Euro area higher than in the non Euro area) will continue to occurr.
: Gentlemen: Is it my imagination or are we
: seeing just a little bit of softness in the
: market? The "grail" Carrera shown
: below (Reference 2447SN) just sold for
: $3,600 (GBP 1,822), and we also saw a 2447NS
: sell a few days in the $3,000 range.
: So is there some softness? The beginning of the
: end? The recession arriving? Or perhaps
: bidders didn't like the weak photo / poorly
: aligned inner bezel?
: What are others seeing / thinking about current
: market conditions?
