That's a lovely watch, and quite a good price I'd say, too.
I can't tell you anything about the original strap, but I'd try a padded croc grain strap in black (like the silver day-date chrono on the site) or a golden brown (like the one on the other gold chrono) I've got a nice cognac colored Hirsch with a butterfly deployment clasp on a gold/gold Omega Connie and it really sets the watch off nicely.
Camaros are just soooo cool, so enjoy the watch.
