JIM:
Thanks for the update and pic! I have a pic of my watch, and based upon your post, I am glad that I have kept mine all these years. If you haven't discovered the other watch forums, such as watches you seek, take a look. You might find some additional informationa and pics on this and other watches.
best,
doc (rh)
: Gentlemen:
: I recently came upon your post here as well.
: In response to these various post and inquires, I also have an
: early Military issued Heuer Diver, that is the topic of this
: multiple string of post threads. I got this watch from a member
: of the FFL that served & was issued the watch while in
: France, and it has seen a few tours of duty in the feild.
: I have not seen anyone post any photograph's of the watch in
: question, so I thought that I would add a photo of my watch
: which is attached here in.
: To add also,
: that with many thanks I spoke with Chuck Maddox shortly before his
: leaving us, and in the light of available information & the
: state of the watch collecting community as it is today, that he
: was of the same thoughts as I have been for some time now., That
: this watch may be about the most collectible & historically
: significant Diver's watch that Heuer ever made.
: Reasoning of thoughts:
: Quite simple really.
: The first of it's kind, the original Prototype if you will. The
: hallmark trademark of the Heuer & Tag Heuer lines in case
: & dial design. The 1st automatic diver entry into the fold
: at the time by Heuer & made rarer still by Special limited
: examples with Military 12/24 hour dial's, which were issued to
: French Foriegn legion units in the late 1970's into the very
: early 1980's in very small number's. The shear low number of
: examples made in France with either dial configuration & the
: relatively low number of remaining examples that survived in any
: hands today, make this the Holy Grail of Heuer Diver's watches
: IMHO.
: I appreciate the opportunity to reply to this string of postings
: concerning these rare Heuer "Made in France" Monnin
: signed watches, and enjoyed the presence of your company!
: Many Thanks-
