This One is Also From Watchco

Here is another from Watchco (Australia) - - -

It has no numbers between the lugs, but the dial and case are stated to be made by Heuer. It has been fitted with a Heuer movement and Heuer hands.

I share many of Bruce's thoughts and questions from his message yesterday. It is unclear to me:

  • when these (Autavia and Silverstone) were made, vintage or modern??
  • which case-maker and dial-maker produced them -- supplier to Heuer or someone acting on their own??
  • what they were made for -- special order from Heuer, protoypes, rejects or as fakes?? Could they have been made for Heuer, by a legitimate supplier, but never used in anything made by Heuer??
Though there are many questions, it seems almost certain that these watches, as such (cases with dials, movements, hands, etc.), were not produced or assembled by Heuer.

What does the absence of model or serial numbers tell us? Is that the "give-away" that they are not from the Heuer factory? Maybe they were never actually assembled by anyone, until a few weeks or months ago??

Thanks for any further information.

Jeff

: hi amh

: the watchco Silverstone you have directed me to
: does have a genuine cal 11 movement fitted
: as you say. there should be a case reference
: between the lower lugs that should read 110
: 313 and a serial number between the upper
: lugs, but these are missing. the dial, case,
: hands and bracelet seem to all be correct
: apart from this one ommision. marcus at
: watchco has been the source of many of the
: nos Monreal and Autavia case and dial sets
: which are covered by other posts on this
: forum. perhaps this is one of those with a
: movement sourced or from the same casemakers
: consignment made as a prototype?

: whichever way, it would seem not to be a full
: production model.

: why not ask marcus where it comes from?
