That is beautiful work, absolutely fantastic.
: After 38 years as a metallurgical engineer, I have now become a
: full time watch maker and restorer. This was not my original
: plan but due to economic conditions, I was laid off earlier in
: the month from a 20+ year position. Its not too bad other than
: getting up each day and deciding what to do next? I am very
: fortunate to have the watch work to fall back on. Many people
: have asked how I learned to refinish watch cases. Will, the real
: answer is that when I was in high school and for about a year
: after I graduated in 1962, I worked in several auto body shops
: taking dents out of cars. All of the same principles apply to
: refinishing a case but on a much smaller scale. Add a little
: metallurgy to that and ... that's all you need.
: This was sent to me by the original owner last month. Here are his
: comments:
: "I received my watch back yesterday. I was surprised that it
: had a new strap attached! Thanks.
: Looking at it is like time travel. I’m visually attracted to it
: today, as I was when I bought it 34 years ago. I am proud to
: commend you as a restorer perfectionist, and watchmaker of the
: highest caliber. After 36 hours it keeps perfect time too! Thank
: you for your complete makeover. It exceeds my
: expectations!"
: Hope you all enjoy it as much as he does. Thanks, Craig
