Arno, you don't know how relieved I am to read someone waxing lyrical over a watch case - I was beginning to think it was just me and I was developing some sort of case fetish ;) I can now console myself that it is -relatively- normal behaviour!
This was the most striking thing when I was handling the rose gold Grand Carreras - deciding where to brush, where to polish, where to be smooth and where to be sharp is an art, and when it's done well it really can help make a watch.
My watches are usually wearers and have the odd ding or two about the case, but the 1158 is still pristine and it does aid in admiring the watch - having the solid gold caseback too also sets it apart.
