For your reading pleasure there is an article in Octane Magazine (British Classic Car Magazine - www.octane-magazine.com) by Simon de Burton detailing how the Monaco came to be in the Steve McQueen movie 'Le Mans'. This is part of the issue dedicated denoted as the 'Cool Issue' which details 'what is cool' in relation to Motors and associated items. It felt a little funny wearing my 1133B on the plane reading the article with a full page picture of the classic McQueen pose from the movie.
Of further interest, there is another article in the same magazine (by Nick Foulkes) which discusses 'why gold watches are cool'. It goes inline with the gold scan day coming up!
It is worth picking up a copy to have a read.
Cheers,
Matt
