Today I enjoyed (rather incidentally, I must confess) the transit stage of the Carrera Panamericana through my hometown of Guadalajara. It is really a thrill to see and, specially, to hear the highly modified participant cars which, by the rules, should be vehicles manufactured only between 1940 and 1954, so they could have competed in the original Panamericana, a race that took place from 1950 to 1954. Jo Ramirez, former team coordinator of the McLaren F1 team, is competing, driving a Volvo P1800.
Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me, but you can check the webpage www.lacarrerapanamericana.com.mx for pictures and details. Highly recommendable! An English language feature is available.
And yes, I was wearing my 1153 Carrera!
