indicates that the Swiss distributor (company name beginning with "C") may have engraved the extra external serial number in order to ensure watches sent back to them for return (credit) or service were originally sold by them. In other words, to guard against dealers or customers trying to return watches to them that had come from other sources. Makes good sense to me!

: Hi Brook - the general consesus from this forum has been that these
: C serial numbers stamped into the back cases indicates a watch
: that was originally sold inside Switzerland. There is some
: speculation as to why, for tax purposes or on consignment order
: to certain outlets. But i can tell you that it goes across the
: Heuer range. We have seen similar stamped back cases on manual
: and auto Monaco's, auto Carrera's and auto Autavia's. ( I have
: an auto Siffert with a stamped c number )
: Now a 2447 Carrera !
: Does anyone want to add another model Heuer the above list ?
: All the best - Darren -
