Re: Coming Soon: Questions about Auction Prices and Estimate

I am very much looking forward to the discussion, I feel we have a specialist market with people who have over the years developed special skills, websites, discussion forums socalled opinion leaders. What is so interesting with Heuers is the fantastic very broad portfolio and I think we are all learning new things every day.
Then we have more recent collectors, who already have a different price sensibility. During exposing watches at the retromobile in Paris I often had the question why are Heuer watches still so cheap ? I guess the Heuer watches are very trendy and press is really jumping on the train, just had a meeting last week with GQ in Munich and they did a three page Heuer story in their recent edition. In auction prices are very hard to predict, somebody who just bought an expensive period Ferrari or Porsche Carrera might find a perfect Heuer Carrera for 3000 euros a bargain.
What do you think ?

Cheers

Arno

: Not right now, but sometime in the not too distant future, I
: would like to formulate some questions for discussion, with Arno
: as our discussion leader. I will fine tune the questions, but
: there are three basic issues, as I see them: What is the
: "NOS premium", compared with the near mint that we
: see? What is the "live auction" premium, achieved by
: Bonhams (and peers), compared with the prices that we see in the
: market? What do these "published" estimates represent?
: Arno (and others): please be thinking about these topics,
: and I will start a thread soon.
