Re: What does football mean to you ?

You want the right to call your code alone football then dont let anyone in the team use their hands. With a goalkeeper restricted to using only his feet i beleive you would have the right too call yourself the true game of Football. The fact that the scoring would also increase allowing the crowd to celebrate more often and thus turn their attention away from trying to murder each other in the stands would also be considered a bonus by some.
Keep in mind that at the Aussie Rules final each year at the MCG we would have 90000 fans watching the game. No police escort required for the fans which are spread throughout the stadium next to each other and not even a single punch would be thrown between them - its still a family friendly environment.

I do say enjoy the world cup everyone - it is a specticle to gather so many nations together for a competition. My television this weekend will however be firmly fixed on the Le Mans racing. Australia does play soccer this sunday night against Germany, i wish our boys luck but feel prayer may well be our best chance.

-: One thing that puzzles me with American Football and Aussie Rules
: Football etc is that, and pardon me if I'm wrong, I'm no expert,
: but, most of the game seems to be carrying the ball in your arms
: and throwing it. Where's the Foot in that???

: Rugby was, from what I can remember at school, developed in the
: late 1800's in Rugby, England and the joke goes that the shape
: of the Rugby ball was inspired by the shape of the the lad's
: head, who broke the rules and ran with the ball, after his team
: mates had finished duffing him up.

: I take it therefore that if you kick the ball with your foot, it is
: Football. Anything else is Rugby, or Rugby wearing padding, or
: Rugby for Bee Gee impersonators.

: And there endeth my rant. COME ON ENGLAND!!!
