Not only is it a fake, but as Mark put it ever-so eloquently, it is a poorly made fake.
A look the seller's many other watches reveals a motley group of timepieces. Many appear to be authentic, but most are in atrocious condition. This is one lesson I have learned about dealing with eBay: Always check the seller's other auctions if there are any. You can get a sense of what sort of seller (s)he is by seeing if several other items are for sale and by observing their types and condition. I also learned to check the seller's feedback, but not necessarily for comments: I check to see what other items (s)he has sold and how much they fetched. I am hesitant to be the first buyer of a high-price item when a seller's reputation is suspect.
I am curious where the hands on this auction came from. The subdial hands are especially intriguing.
