GMTs are the most obvious omission from my top 5; if I were to make it six (or 10), the next one would definitely be from amongst the GMTs. Probably the 1163 because of the fully numbered bezel and the nicer (imo) 24 hour indicator hand but, again, I think the late 11063 was still a very nice watch.
My preference is still for the Carreras, of course, that's something unshakeable but I do feel at that period that some of Heuer's best design was going into the Autavias. It would be really interesting to follow how the design process changed over the years; from Jack having an idea and someone realising it, to people being hired as designers, to the current day with all the work done with computer-aided design. Probably a similar profile to the designers of the racing cars we associate with our watches - no longer the days of one man being able to take most/all of the credit going back to Colin Chapman, and the later Gordon Murrays and John Barnards, to now where it is much more of a team effort, although you still get the occasional designer "stars" like Adrian Newey.
