...you shouldnt worry about needing to dive into the deep end. spend your time learning about horology in general, there's alot to like!

learn about the history of techincal developments, different brands, the evolution of timekeeping designs, etc.

and you can get started for not alot of money. my first mechnical was an automatic seiko that cost all of $100 and it just went from there!
