The two big disadvangages with Black PVD are: 1) Most of the time it's not considered a very "dressy" look. Sophisticated? yes, Technical? certainly, classy/dressy? Nope. 2) if you are in the habit of being hard on your watch, it's difficult to "buff out" dings and scratches. Certainly you can hit them with a Sharpie® Marker (incidentally, a black Sharpie® works great on an olive PVD finish) but there are limits to what can be done before it is either a) ineffective or b) goofy looking.
That's about it. It's a great look and as long as you keep both of those in mind, it's a good choice if you're looking for something that is a matte finish or is very "High-Tech" looking.
