Jarl,
I had flagged this one up earlier - http://www.chronocentric.com/forums/heuer/index.cgi?page=1;md=read;id=37653
At the time of writing the last message in that thread, I was gob-smacked that it had reached $500. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read your post this morning. What is ridiculous about that auction is that it is blindingly obvious that it's wrong. You don't have to be an expert to spot that the movement is clearly marked TAG Heuer. I'm sure there are many that have bought a 'wrong watch' in the past due to not knowing the smallest of details are incorrect, but this diver was obviously wrong. Wrong hands, wrong movement, wrong crown, not in the slightest bit NOS either. It's disgraceful.
Quite why someone would be willing to spend over a grand on a watch & not know the very basics about the watch, is beyond me.
Stewart
: It is sad and if a watch is mis described then that's not on.
: However a small caveat, if the new buyer is purchasing via the web
: then they do have the best research tool ever made to do their
: homework!
: This watch was being discussed on here and questions had been
: asked.
: As you say, big money for a 'bitsa' as we say in the Classic
: Porsche scene.
