Agreed, DC’s article is very thorough and confirms that the decompression bezel is a genuine Heuer part. I do however find it somewhat difficult to believe that Heuer were planning an all new Autavia diver when a) the Diver 100 was only released in 1984; b) no new diver dial has surfaced and c) the 1000 Diver was a big commercial success and the range was growing exponentially year on year i.e. the main focus and direction for the brand. Once again, the final years at Heuer have many anomalies and this is yet another. Finally, I must declare a personal interest and confess that I have both examples in my collection and I do prefer the decompression bezel.
