I have a vintage Heuer Autavia GMT chronograph that I purchased at the old Abercrombie & Fitch store on Madison Ave., NYC, ca. 1970 (when Abercrombie & Fitch was a REAL store) for $125.00. Yeah, believe it.
Unfortunately, over time, the tension spring on the two-toned bezel (blue for night, red for day) got loose and both bezel and spring fell off one day without my knowing it.
Any idea how I can replace these parts and restore my otherwise wonderful timepiece?
P.S. Can anyone send me a color picture of this watch with the bezel in place? I have a friend in the jewelry business who says he can get me a replacement if I can show him what I need. (I don't have a digital camera or a printer, and without the bezel, a picture of my watch wouldn't help much anyway.) If you send me a picture in jpeg format, I can forward it with no problem.
Thanks so much in advance for any help you can provide.
