I too was quite surprised at the hammer price on this one. Granted, it’s a true 1163 Orange Boy and we don’t see many of these come up for sale but that was far higher than I expected. Other than the general interest in the brand due to Arno's auction and the publicity it is generating the only other thing I could think of is the chocolate dial factor. In the Rolex and Omega world these generate a premium. Does this mean that a Heuer with a chocolate dial now commands a higher price that the standard dial?
On a separate not I bought two pieces from that seller in the past and both transactions went without a hitch. I found him to be amicable and I did have a few demands which were all met quite graciously.
regards
Paul
