Re: Autavia Prototype (with 28,800 VPH movement)

Hello David,

Well...the best way to find out is to try and hear...but ofcourse you'd need mechanical watches with different frequency. The difference between an Heuer caliber 11 with a frequency of 19800 and an Heuer caliber 12 with a frequency of 21600 you'll not hear very easily...not to say it would be impossible for an untrained ear.

Ofcourse the leap to the movements with 28800 VPH is quite big and you will hear this difference very easily.

The Zenith El primero is breathtaking when you hear it ticking...and if you see it, even more. A little miracle on its own. When Zenith manufactured this movement they also had to produce new "oil" for the pallets. The oil that was commonly used at that time wasn't suited for this 36600 VPH movement. Due to the high frequency the oil didn't stick to the pallets and was "thrown" away while ticking.

Cheers,
Abel.
