of course, the Americans would have liked the "Watkins Glen" name!!
I wonder why they waited so long to use the "Daytona" name? Perhaps they were yielding to Rolex; perhaps on the advice of their attorneys.
As we have discussed previously, it is the name "Pasadena" that proves most convincingly that ease of pronunciation may have been even more important than racing imagery!! a real shame that we never saw the "Indianapolis", which we would have lovingly called the "Indy".
